But to follow the common people who recite “mitnaa” is the same, according to al-Habib Ahmad bin Hasan al-‘Attas who used to recite “mitnaa”. But as far as grammatical rules are concerned, it is “amitnaa ‘alaa Dini’l Islam”. So those who intend to recite with the letter “alif”, recite “amitnaa”, but to recite “mitnaa” is permitted. “Mitnaa ‘alaa Dini’l Islam”, without the letter “alif” (“a”) in “amitnaa”.Īsh-Shaykh ‘Abdallah Ba Sawdan who wrote a commentary on the Ratib said that in the language of the Arabs, (sometimes) some words are shortened. Some scholars say that it contains the Greatest Attributive Name of Allah.
